A Perfect Day in Brussels

My passport is getting dusty! It has been hard not My passport is getting dusty! It has been hard not being able to travel much over the past year but I've been finding little ways to escape within Austin.⠀
⠀
✨NEW BLOG POST✨⠀
I've been working on this one for a while and it's been one of my favorites! I'm showing you all the places in Austin where I go to get my Japan fix.⠀
⠀
There are a bunch of Japanese restaurants/attractions in Austin but this is a list of places that specifically remind me of my trips to Japan. From tastes to aesthetics to shopping, these are the places that transport me right back to my favorite place to visit.⠀
⠀
My most recent discovery was the Isamu Taniguchi Japanese Garden in @zilkerbotanicalgarden, pictured here!⠀
⠀
Here are the others on my list:⠀
@asahiimports⠀
@austinichiban⠀
@daiso_usa⠀
@kurasushi_usa⠀
@squeeclub⠀
@dipdipdiptatsu_ya⠀
@otokoaustin⠀
@kinokuniyausa⠀
⠀
In addition to the blog post, there is also a new guide on my page, go check it out!
Y'all got to watch me get super excited over @sand Y'all got to watch me get super excited over @sando.itchi a couple weeks ago in my stories so here's your reminder that they are only in Austin for one more week. You have to pre-order these delicious Japanese-style sandwiches on Sunday. Go to their page for all the details and instructions. And be ready, because they go fast!⠀
⠀
The menu for the week I ordered:⠀
🐔Hot Truffle Chicken Katsu: Delightful, nice spicy kick⠀
🥚Egg Salad: Reminded me of the sandwiches from Japanese convenience stores that I love!⠀
🍓Fruit + Cream: Wasn't sure I would like this one, but it ended up being so good, it was like cake!⠀
🐷Pork Katsu: Sadly, while I did order this one, it never made it into my bag and I ended up with second chicken sandwich.⠀
🐮Wagyu: Out of my sandwich budget! But if you get one let me know how you like it!⠀
⠀
Which one would you bite into first?⠀
⠀
PS. It's really hard to hold these sandwiches like this, kudos to the food bloggers that made this look easy!
It is CRUSHING me to be deleting all the emails I It is CRUSHING me to be deleting all the emails I keep getting about cheap flights 😭 and I get a ton! Here are all the places I get cheap flight alerts from:⠀
✈️@scotscheapflights - Probably the most well known site. I recently upgraded to premium and wowee-wow-wow there are so many deals! I also love getting their newsletters because they are packed with travel tips and tricks.⠀
✈️@escapeflights - This site only serves a few cities in the US but all major airports in Texas are included. Check out their website to see your closest airport.⠀
✈️@dollarflightclub - This is a new one to my list. Solid deals and another great newsletter that focuses on travel news.⠀
✈️@secretflying - This site covers basically the entire world for deals, has a great search feature on their website.⠀
⠀
Some things to note:⠀
✅All of these have free options, you don't need to pay for deals and for the longest time I only used free sites.⠀
✅These are deal alert sites NOT booking sites. ⠀
✅You need to have flexible dates for travel.⠀
✅Act fast as deals sometimes only last for a few hours.⠀
✅In addition to monetary flight deals, sometimes these sites will find deals for booking with frequent flier miles as well.⠀
✅Most deals are for economy, occasionally there will be deals for first and business.⠀
✅These sites cover domestic and international travel.⠀
✅Remember if you are booking a flight that is originating or terminating in the US you have the option to cancel your booking within 24 hours for a full refund - this gives you a bit of extra time to figure out your plans so you don't miss out on a cheap deal.⠀

😡I'm getting tired of people stealing my conten 😡I'm getting tired of people stealing my content.😡⠀
⠀
And I'm not talking about sharing the same tips as me or visiting the same places - I actually love to see information/tips/recommendations reach more people. ⠀
⠀
I'm talking about: ⠀
🤬People taking literal screenshots of my stories and posting them Tripadvisor as part of their review. ⠀
🤬Compilations of my videos appearing on YouTube and Vimeo.⠀
🤬Businesses posting my photos to their IG because they can't come up with their own content and making it look like endorse their product.⠀
🤬Other bloggers using my photos in their posts.⠀
⠀
Over the past few weeks I have had all of these things happen. I've had to file copyright violations on various platforms and message people and companies (including large companies that hold global travel conferences and should know better) to protect my content.⠀
⠀
And this is just what I have come across, who knows what else of mine is out there that I haven't found. ⠀
⠀
I'm not a hard person to get ahold of to ask for permission either. All my social channels are linked, my email is easily accessible. My brand name pops up first on Google as does my legal name.⠀
⠀
I know that this is probably a losing battle as so many people think if it's on the internet it's free for them to use. But I'm exhausted and feels violating to see my work being used without permission, without credit, and for the profit of someone else.

I get people asking me about places I have, sadly, yet to visit and sometimes I'm able to reach into the back of my brain and remember a friend who's been there. I try my best to get them in touch to ask questions or check out IG highlights or even blog posts. But often I'm at a loss 😭⠀

⠀
🌟I made this post last year and it helped me so much in being able to pass along questions from this community on to other travel enthusiasts and bloggers. Let's update my list for 2021!
😒Don't be THAT traveler!⠀ ⠀ I enjoy visitin 😒Don't be THAT traveler!⠀
⠀
I enjoy visiting religious sites when I travel. I've been to churches, mosques, temples and shrines. Visiting a place of worship can be an powerful cultural experience, whether you are getting in touch with your own religion or immersing yourself in someone else's.⠀
⠀
Here are some tips on how to be a respectful traveler:⠀
📸Follow the photography rules - Many places will post signs saying if photography is allowed make sure you are following them and if you choose to take photos (when allowed) try not to be disruptive.⠀
🧕🏼Dress appropriately - This could mean covering your shoulders, your hair, removing your shoes, or even renting the appropriate attire before you enter. Do a little research before you go on what you should wear.⠀
💵Donate if you can - Many religious sites are open and free to the public so they don't directly benefit from tourism. If you can, put some money in their donation box or purchase an item from the gift shop.⠀
🤓Look up the etiquette - Should you not turn your back on a statue? Only use your right hand? Do you need to wash before entering? Don't cross your legs? Don't wear leather? These are all things to be aware of at certain sites. ⠀
⠀
❓And the best tip: If you don't know what to do, you can either watch and learn or feel free to ask for help. ⠀
⠀
Do you visit religious sites when you travel?⠀
⠀
This little church is located in Round Top, TX and it's claim to fame is that it's World's Smallest Active Worship Catholic Church.⠀
